Welcome to the first module in the Online Social Optimization course. This module is free to use, and you are welcome to share the tools and instructions as you see fit. We ask that you link to us directly if you’d like to reference this material, and encourage comments and feedback both here and in other social spaces.
Before you get into the video portion of this module, first take a moment to open up the spreadsheets that you’ll be exploring momentarily. Here are four of the five tools we’re covering in this module:
The core of an online presence is the names and passwords for each account. Keeping track of these accounts can quickly become problematic, so we’ve developed this list to quickly and easily stay abreast of our online identity, as well as troubleshoot quickly. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pilPmRnL3UZr8_o0bvCimcA&output=html
It is invaluable to know who is where, and why, when examining a keyphrase and namespace you want to occupy. Search engine results are there for a reason, and studying those top sites in the area of your interest can reveal a number of insights into possible strategy. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pilPmRnL3UZr220q0kW_KHg&output=html
We’ll cover keyword and hashtag research upkeep using this spreadsheet, which enables you to return to this spreadsheet again and again to keep track of associated words and phrases. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pilPmRnL3UZr3FrIPXR6oNw&single=true&gid=0&output=html
This tracker archives your content helping facilitate inbound reference building, while breaking it down into several parts, including off-page content you use elsewhere in association with the page’s on-page content. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pilPmRnL3UZpSf2vI9V8TYA&output=html
I’ll detail what that fifth tool is and the secrets to using it in tandem with these four spreadsheets in the video below.

If you do not yet have a domain name or server space that is your own, meaning you have ftp access to it and can modify your web site as you see fit, I suggest starting with Dreamhost as it is the provider which hosts this web presence, and as yet we’ve had no serious complications. If you do not have other Dreamhost coupons (they often run incredible specials during holidays) you can use the coupon code: “WESUNRUH” to bring a year of hosting plus a domain name down to $99.
As I state in the video, the primary hub of your web presence is in the top two tiers of the tracker and you should immediately begin familiarizing yourself with these top sites. As I have shown, create your own spreadsheet and begin building up your profiles and familiarizing yourself with the many options available.
